Wandelhalle transforms into a giant zombie stage
Attention, Michael Jackson fans: This Halloween, Hamburg’s main station becomes a dance floor. 150 zombies are set to deliver a legendary performance.
On October 31, the Wandelhalle at Hamburg Central Station will turn into a stage for a special event: 150 dancers in zombie costumes plan to recreate Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller” video live. The event starts at 12 noon and is organized by the Musical School Ahrensburg (MSA) together with the fan club “Malibu.” Stage Entertainment announced the event on Tuesday.
The “Malibu” fan club is among the oldest and most active Michael Jackson fan groups in the German-speaking world. Fan club leader Jennifer Fuhrmann says: “We’re excited about every single application. The fact that it’s happening in Hamburg, home of the MJ musical, makes the event especially meaningful.”
Calling all fans for the “Thriller” show: no experience required
They’re looking for Michael Jackson fans aged 18 and up who are eager to don costumes and makeup and show off a few spooky moves. Dance experience is welcome but not required, emphasizes Jacqueline C. Wendt, MSA’s Artistic Director: “It’s not about mastering the choreography perfectly. What matters more is energy, passion—and having a really good time.”
Interested participants can apply by September 19 via email to casting@mceshows.com
with a short motivational statement and a photo. A jury will then select the most promising candidates for an on-site casting. Those chosen will take part in virtual rehearsals under professional guidance and will ultimately perform in the big Halloween flash mob on stage in the Wandelhalle Hamburg.
